Celebrating Jack Shaw — A True Young Hero

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate one of our youngest and most dedicated supporters - Jack Shaw. Jack has been an incredible friend to the Julian Trust, showing a level of kindness and community spirit well beyond his years. Over the past year, he’s gone above and beyond to support people experiencing homelessness in Bristol - from spreading awareness, to collecting essentials through donation drives, to fundraising for the shelter, Jack has been there every step of the way. None of it would have been possible without the encouragement and support of his mum, dad, Nanny and Nan, who have been with him every step of the way.

Thoughtful Donations That Made a Real Impact

Jack has donated an extraordinary 200 tubes of toothpaste, 100 kilograms of rice, and hundreds of t-shirts to the Julian Trust. Jack has even used his own pocket money to buy hundreds of brand-new t-shirts. These items have helped us restock our essential supplies, keeping our kitchen running smoothly and ensuring our guests have access to basic comforts and clean clothing. His generosity came at a time when demand was especially high - and thanks to his efforts, we were able to continue offering warm meals and dignity to everyone who came through our doors.

Climbing Pen Y Fan for the Julian Trust

Jack didn’t stop there. This November, he took on the challenge of climbing Pen Y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales. Jack raised an amazing £1,000, which was then boosted to £1,500 thanks to a generous match-giving scheme from Jack’s mum’s employer. It was an incredible achievement and a testament to their shared determination to make a difference.

Recognising a Young Hero

Jack’s compassion and drive have also been recognised beyond the shelter - he was nominated for the Young Heroes Award 2025, celebrating the outstanding difference he’s made to his community. It was a truly well-deserved nomination for someone who continues to inspire everyone around him.

A Beacon of Hope

Jack’s efforts remind us that anyone - no matter their age - can make a real difference. His energy, generosity, and community spirit represent the very best of what keeps the Julian Trust going.

From everyone at the shelter: Thank you, Jack. You are a true inspiration, and we’re so proud to have you as part of our Julian Trust family.
