We always welcome additional volunteers at the Night Shelter. If we had more volunteers we would be able to give extra time to our guests and perhaps open one more night during the week.
You can help by being a volunteer at the Night Shelter. We need volunteers at three different periods – evenings (8pm-10.30pm), overnight (10.30pm-7.30am) and mornings (9.30am-12.30pm, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays)
Your regular commitment can be as little as one session per month, and if you have to miss an occasional session then that’s okay (but please let us know in advance). If you’re not sure whether this is for you then please give it a try, we’ll understand if you decide not to continue.
Evening volunteers can choose to work in the kitchen, away from our guests, or work with our guests (i.e. providing a warm welcome and keeping them company). We run occasional optional training programmes for volunteers covering a variety of topics, but your initial training will be “on the job”.
