About the Trust

The Julian Trust is registered as a charitable company. Its accounts are annually audited and available to the public. It holds an AGM in October/November each year.

The Office

The company has a guarantor membership of 60 individuals who act rather like shareholders. They elect the Board of Directors from amongst their membership.

The Board of Directors is also the Management Committee of the Night Shelter. There are 12 Directors who are also Trustees. Each Director serves for three years and can stand for re-election for further terms.

The Board annually appoints four of the Directors to the offices of Chair, Vice-Chair, Company Secretary and Treasurer. You can contact the Officers as detailed on our Contact Us page.

The Julian Trust is accountable to the Registrar of Companies, the Charity Commissioners and Bristol City Council. All of whom receive Annual Reports.

The Julian Trust is a member of the Homeless Link, the National Council for Voluntary Organisations, St Pauls Community Workers' Forum and Voscur. See our Links page for details of these organisations.

The Julian Trust is a supporter of Big Issue South West and has contributed to the Survival Handbook, a guide to local services for the homeless produced by Caring at Christmas . See our Links page for details of these organisations.

The Julian Trust meets whenever required with Bristol City Council and Avon Health Authority officials to update our policies so that we fully comply with required standards on Health & Safety and Environmental & Food Hygiene regulations. We also fully participated in the government's original consultations on the Rough Sleepers' Initiative.

Considerable professional help and advice has been received over the past twenty years from Westlakes Solicitors and Stone & Partners Accountants for which we are immensely grateful.
